A man wanted for a fatal shooting early Saturday in unincorporated Grayslake was arrested in Wisconsin later the same night.

Authorities were called about shots fired at 1:36 a.m. Saturday in the 33300 block of Lone Rock Road, according to the Lake County sheriff’s office. Officers arrived to find 30-year-old Fabian J. Cortez-Milan with a gunshot wound.

Cortez-Milan, of Zion, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff’s office.

Later that day, an arrest warrant was issued for 19-year-old Jasperin F. Melendez of Waukegan, according to the sheriff’s office. The arrest warrant charged Melendez with first-degree murder and carried a $5 million bond.

Melendez was located about 9:10 p.m. Saturday at a drive-through fast-food restaurant in the 600 block of East North Avenue in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, according to the sheriff’s office. He remains in custody at the Milwaukee County Jail pending an extradition hearing.

The sheriff’s office previously said the shooting was not random.
