Just after 7 p.m., three men entered a Jared Galleria of Jewelry store at 1700 E. Woodfield Road armed with hammers and smashed a display case holding loose diamonds, according to Schaumburg police.

After grabbing $285,825 worth of diamonds, the group ran to a vehicle and drove away, police said. No injuries were reported.

Police released surveillance photos of the group Thursday.

The men were described as black, between 18 and 24 years old, of thin build and between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-8, police said. They wore layered clothing, including a bottom layer of a white hooded sweatshirt, a second layer of a black hooded sweatshirt and a top layer of dark colored, puffy jackets.

Anyone with information was asked to call police at (847) 882-3534.
