A man was shot Sunday night during an attempted robbery in the West Englewood neighborhood.

The 27-year-old was sitting in a vehicle about 6:25 p.m. in the 5900 block of South Wood when someone came up to him and demanded his property, Chicago Police said.

When the 27-year-old began to drive away, the robber pulled out a gun and fired, striking him in the hand, police said. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital for treatment and his condition was stabilized.
