A woman has been charged with fatally shooting a man in the northwest Indiana home they shared.

Karen Anne Sons, 55, remains held without bond on a murder charge at the Porter County Jail, according to Porter County sheriff’s police.

Officers were called for a well-being check at the home about 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the first block of California Street in Hebron, near the Lake Eliza area of Porter Township, according to sheriff’s police.

Robert Head, 54, was found dead with a single gunshot wound, according to sheriff’s police and the Porter County coroner’s office.

Investigators worked throughout Sunday afternoon and night speaking to neighbors, sheriff’s police said.

The relationship between Sons and Head remained under investigation, but sheriff’s police said the two lived together.
