Larkin’s Jalen Shaw (40) and St. Charles East’s Justin Hardy (32) fight for position. Worsom Robinson/For the Sun-Times.

I could watchJalen Shaw play all season. The Larkin big man is so intriguing. Tonight’s game was a lot different than the matchup against Young during Thanksgiving week.

St. Charles East was bound and determined to keep Shaw from beating them. They limited him to just four shots. But Shaw got it done by distributing, he’s an excellent passer out of the post.

Read all about it here. Shaw finished with 12 points and 17 rebounds, his Player of the Year chances are still very much alive. He impacts a game as much or more than any other player I’ve seen so far this season.

The latest episode of No Shot Clock was posted this afternoon. Give it a listen.

Also don’t miss Joe Henricksen’s preview of the The Brook vs. The Ville. That’s where I will be tomorrow night.

Tuesday’s top games

No. 15 Kenwood 62, Harlan 54: Close one. I was pretty sure I wanted to check out the Harlan-Hyde Park game on Thursday and now it’s a definite. RJ McGee led the Broncos with 19 points and six rebounds. He’s becoming the consistent scorer I wondered about earlier in the season. Elijah Steward added 13 points.

Marist 67, Mount Carmel 55: There hasn’t been much talk about Marist this season. Well, that isn’t true. There has been a ton of talk about Marist, but all about who left. Morgan Taylor is still there and check out what he did tonight: 30 points, four rebounds and four assists. Taylor was really good last season and he appears poised to put up a big senior year. Jack Ellison added 17 points and 11 rebounds. Dahveon Morris scored 14 for the Caravan.

Loyola 40, Notre Dame 37: The Ramblers narrowly missed making the Super 25 this past week. This is a solid win, they are 6-1 now.

Libertyville 65, Lake Forest 60, OT: The Wildcats apparently to be more than just Drew Peterson. Josh Steinhaus led the way with 22 in this one, Peterson had 17.

Momence 75, Peotone 49: MOMENCE WATCH is on. Lamar Lillard had 25 points and 10 rebounds, Woodrow Hubbard 18 points and five steals and Lamarius Lillard had 13 points and two “power dunks.” The Redskins are 6-1.

No. 1 Simeon 77, Bogan 57: Well, we certainly have a top-ranked team now. Dominant win for the Wolverines. Messiah Jones led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds and Talen Horton-Tucker had a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Check this out…

Carmel 61, Providence-St. Mel 60: The north suburbs are intriguing this season. I think I saw the Corsairs’ lousiest performance of the season. Nice win here.

Waukegan 60, Mundelein 56: The Bulldogs are 3-0 when they have all three Browns in action for the entire game. The lines tonight:

Jordan Brown 20 points, eight rebounds, five steals

Bryant Brown 14 points, eight rebs, five blocks

Ja’Dyn Brown 13 points, eight rebounds

No. 19Marian Catholic 53, St. Rita 51: The Mustangs’ slump continues. Malik Tidwell and Ahron Ulis both scored 18.

No. 11Naperville North 82, Joliet West 58: This one was ugly. The Huskies led by 29 at one point. Tom Welch and Chris Johnson each scored 15 points.

Zion-Benton 58, Stevenson 48: It was looking like a very down year for the Zee-Bees, so this is a big sign of life. Freshman Amar Aguillard scored 27 points. Twitter thinks he’s going to be the next star in the north suburbs and Milik Yarbrough liked the tweet so I think we all have to take it as hard truth.

No. 4Curie 69, No. 3Morgan Park 62: The Condors led big and Morgan Park chipped away but couldn’t get over the hump. Marquise Walker comes back from a rocky St. Rita game to scored 23. Trevon Martin had 15 points and Dajuan Gordon scored 11. Ayo Dosunmu had 26 for Morgan Park.

Chicago Military 100, Air Force 46: This game was a tribute to Donnell Hudson, a player that was killed last year. It’s so shocking and sad to live in a city where this keeps happening.
