The Dan Ryan Expressway’s outbound lanes have reopened after a vehicle was struck by gunfire Wednesday morning on the South Side.

A 47-year-old man was driving in the outbound lanes of the expressway near 75th Street at 5:26 a.m. when a gray Jeep pulled alongside the passenger side of his car and fired several shots, according to Illinois State Police.

The man was not shot, but his vehicle was struck by gunfire, police said. He drove to 83rd and Lafayette, where he spoke to troopers.

The gray Jeep was last seen driving west on 83rd Street from the Dan Ryan, police said.

All southbound lanes from 71st to 79th were closed for the investigation until about 8:20 a.m.
