A man was fatally struck by a vehicle last week in northwest suburban Elgin.

At 9:37 p.m. on Dec. 13, the 52-year-old man was crossing Randall Road near Holmes Road against the traffic light and was struck by oncoming traffic, according to Elgin police. The pedestrian was killed.

He has been identified as 52-year-old Robert E. Mikul of Lake in the Hills, according to Kane County Coroner Rob Russell. His preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma, and the manner was accidental.

Randall Road was closed for about three hours for the investigation.
