A 23-year-old man was shot early Saturday in the Kelvin Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

He was walking on the sidewalk at 3:53 a.m. in the 4700 block of West Wellington when several males approached and shots were fired, according to Chicago Police.

The man was struck in the back and abdomen and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said. His condition had stabilized.

No one is in custody, and Area North detectives are investigating.

The man was found unresponsive in an alley in the 10700 block of South Lowe Avenue, police said.
