Service on the Blue Line was back to normal Friday night after experiencing significant delays during the evening commute on the Northwest Side.

Normal service had resumed about 9 p.m., the CTA said.

The delays were related to a possible break in the track, according to a spokesman for the CTA.

In an earlier alert, the CTA said the delays were caused by a “track condition” near Montrose.

Riders had to board all trains at the Irving Park station on the Forest Park-bound side of the platform and bus shuttles were made available in the affected area.
