A 43-year-old man was shot early Saturday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

About 4:30 a.m., the man was standing on the sidewalk in the 3000 block of West Jackson when a male in his 20s approached with a handgun and demanded his property, according to Chicago Police.

After stealing the victim’s personal items, the suspect shot him in the left leg and fled, police said.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.

No one is in custody and Area North detectives are investigating.
