A 20-year-old man died and a 60-year-old woman was wounded in a shooting Thursday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Iveill Hudson was standing on the corner about 1:45 p.m. in the 5700 block of West Chicago and talking on a cellphone when someone walked up and fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Hudson, of the Austin neighborhood, was shot in the abdomen and leg and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died at 5:04 p.m., authorities said.

The woman was shot in the leg and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, but was later transferred to Stroger, police said. Her condition had stabilized.

She was not believed to be an intended target of the shooting, a police source said.
