A pregnant woman was among two people fatally shot Wednesday night in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers responded to a shooting about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 7600 block of South Champlain and found 20-year-old Malik K. Bingham at the wheel of a parked car, and 20-year-old Wilteeah Jones lying on a sidewalk nearby, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Bingham, of the Morgan Park neighborhood, was shot in the neck, authorities said. Jones, who was pregnant, suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and side, police said. She lived in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

Both were taken to Stroger Hospital, where Bingham died at 9:09 p.m., and Jones died 20 minutes later, authorities said.

A police source said the shooting was considered gang-related.
