A man was shot Monday evening in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

The 22-year-old was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle around 6:30 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Harvard when a black vehicle approached and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

He took himself to St. Bernard Hospital with wounds to the lower back and arm, and was transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Area South detectives are investigating. No one was in custody.
