A fourth teen was charged Wednesday night, in addition to the three others, for the shooting of a 15-year-old boy Monday night in northwest suburban Round Lake Beach.

Around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, 19-year-old Evaristo D. Vasquez-Perez was stopped by Gurnee police for having only one headlight, according to a statement from Round Lake Beach police. The vehicle he was in was unrelated to the shooting.

Further investigation revealed Vasquez-Perez was the driver of a black Volkswagen Jetta believed to have been involved with the Monday shooting, police said. He was being sought after for questioning by police.

Vasquez-Perez, of Cedar Lake, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, police said. His bond was set $100,000.

Jose Herrera, 19; Juan Nunez, 18; and Adrian Robledo Garcia, 19, were each charged with felony counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm, police announced Wednesday. The three Round Lake teens appeared in court Wednesday. Herrera was jailed on a $200,000 bond, and the others were held on bonds of $100,000 apiece.

About 9:45 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 400 block of Meadow Green Lane and found the 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District Lt. Dennis Ostrander and police. He was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and later released.

Detectives determined that Herrera, Nunez and Garcia were in a car when one of them got into an argument over a female, police said. Herrera pulled a gun and shot at another person, but instead hit the 15-year-old who wasn’t involved in the fight, police said.
