A 35-year-old man was shot in the ankle by someone who walked up to him around 2 a.m. Friday as he stood outside smoking a cigarette in the 7600 block of North Sheridan in Rogers Park, according to the police.

They said he was taken in good condition to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston.
