A man was found dead in the Grand Crossing District police station lock-up early Monday on the South Side.

Shawn O. Brider, 48, was found unresponsive in the 3rd District lock-up about 12:15 a.m. at 7040 S. Cottage Grove Ave., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was being held on a misdemeanor count of child endangerment.

Brider, a DeKalb resident, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:29 a.m., authorities said. An autopsy Monday did not rule on his cause and manner of death, with results pending further investigation.

Area South detectives are also investigating.

About 10 p.m., the person was in the 4200 block of West Congress Parkway when she was struck by a red SUV that fled north on Kildare Avenue, Chicago police said.
Just after 10 p.m., the man, 42, was driving in the 4500 block of South Pulaski Road when he was shot in the back of the head, Chicago police said.
About 1:15 a.m., a 31-year-old man was outside in the 1600 block of North Hamlin Avenue when he was approached by two men in a vehicle who began shooting, Chicago police said.
