A man was killed in a crash early Friday in northwest Indiana.

Kyle Shannon, 25, was driving a 2012 Dodge Avenger at a high speed at 3:46 a.m., heading east on 15th Avenue near I-65 in Gary, according to Gary police and the the Lake County sheriff’s and coroner’s offices. The Avenger then collided with a steamroller that was heading south across 15th.

Shannon, who lived in Gary, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:50 a.m., the coroner’s office said. He died from blunt force trauma and his death was ruled an accident.

The driver of the steamroller was ejected in the crash and suffered “very minor injuries,” the sheriff’s office said.
