A 14-year-old girl died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday afternoon in the Hegewisch neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The girl suffered a gunshot wound about 12:30 p.m. in the 12700 block of South Exchange, Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
