A 75-year-old man was pronounced dead Friday morning after emergency crews responded to a house fire in the Norwood Parkneighborhood on the Northwest Side.
Crews were called just before 6 a.m. to the home in the 5000 block of North Oak Park, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Loren Flensborgwas found in the living room of the home and was taken toPresence Resurrection Medical Center, where he died at 6:35 a.m., fire officialsand the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
The fire appeared to have started in the basement of the home, fire officials said. Itwas put out in about 20 minutes.
The CPD Bomb and Arson Unit was called to the scene and the cause of the fire remainedunder investigation.
