A 37-year-old woman died Thursday afternoon after she was shot in an unincorporated area of south suburban South Holland.

Ramona R. Shelton was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:15 p.m. Thursday after suffering multiple gunshot wounds in the 15500 block of Paxton Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s and sheriff’s offices. Shelton lived in the same block, police said.

The sheriff’s office was investigating.
