A 17-year-old boy was shot Monday night in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The shooting happened at 7:48 p.m. in the 5000 block of West Ferdinand, Chicago Police said.

The boy was inside a vehicle when another vehicle approached and someone began shooting from inside it, striking him in the leg, police said.

The boy drove himself to the 4900 block of West Chicago, where he was picked up and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. His condition was stabilized.
