A 25-year-old man was shot Wednesday evening in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

He was driving a black, Chevrolet Impala about 5 p.m. in the 8500 block of South Carpenter when he was shot in the head, according to Chicago Police.

The man then crashed into a gate and ran away, police said. He was later taken by Chicago Fire Department paramedics to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in critical condition.
