An 18-year-old man died after he was shot Sunday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
At 2:43 p.m., Jamari Richmond was playing basketball when someone fired at him from the first of two vehicles that were driving north in the 7300 block of South Union Avenue, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Richmond suffered a gunshot wound to his head, and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 5:06 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the block where he was shot.
“A portion of this country’s government is pushing for the total eradication of the trans community, and it is being met, as atrocity and genocide often is, with apathy,” one speaker said.
It’s to the point where coach Billy Donovan and the team’s medical staff have basically shut Caruso down from contact in practices and shootarounds, with the hopes of making sure he’s only available for games.
