A woman was struck by a vehicle early Wednesday after a fight broke out in the Gold Coast neighborhood.

Two women, ages 21 and 22, were involved in a fight about 2:50 a.m. with another group of women, one of whom pulled out a knife and threatened them in the first block of West Elm, according to Chicago Police.

The 21-year-old tried to drive away and, in the process, she accidentally struck her 22-year-old friend, who was trying to get into the vehicle while it was moving, police said. The younger woman then drove a short distance away before stopping.

The 22-year-old was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, police said. Her condition was stabilized.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident Wednesday morning, although the 21-year-old woman was issued a citation for failure to render aid, police said.
