A man was shot Monday afternoon near west suburban Downers Grove.

About 2:45 p.m., authorities responded to a person shot in the 2300 block of Maple Avenue in unincorporated Downers Grove, according to the DuPage County sheriff’s office.

The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where his condition was stabilized, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sgt. Bob Harris said in an emailed statement that the shooting was not random, and the victim was targeted by an acquaintance. The suspect fled after the shooting and residents are not in danger.
