A 16-year-old boy was found shot to death Wednesday night in the South Shore neighborhood.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired about 9:20 p.m. and found Alandis Allison lying on the ground in the 7700 block of South Marquette, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Allison, who lived in the same neighborhood, had been shot at least once in the head and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:11 p.m., authorities said.

Shermain Sargent, 41, is accused of beating Timothy Ash, 74, on Jan. 7 in the 6400 block of South King Drive. Ash died Jan. 12 of injuries suffered from the assault, the medical examiner reported.
“It may be the best option available,” Marc Ganis, the co-founder and CEO of Chicago-based Sportscorp Ltd., said Wednesday. “Sometimes you just have to take the best option available, even if it’s not ideal.”
