An 18-year-old man died Thursday when he was hit by a train in south suburban Riverdale.

Tyrese Choice, of Dolton, was hit by Amtrak train 59 at 8:43 p.m. in the 13900 block of Illinois Avenue as he walked on the tracks, according to Amtrak and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The train was headed to New Orleans from Chicago with 223 passengers on board when Choice was struck, according to Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods.

An autopsy on Friday ruled his death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.
