A downstate woman died Saturday evening after a crash in northwest Indiana.

The two-car crash happened about 6 p.m. Saturday at 150th and Calumet Avenue in Hammond, according to Hammond police and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Dawn Rambo, 35, was taken to Franciscan Health in Hammond, where she was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m., the coroner’s office said. She lived in Ottawa, Illinois.

An autopsy did not immediately rule on cause or manner of her death, with results pending further studies.

The other vehicle’s driver was not injured in the crash, which was possibly related to a medical issue, police said.
