SHARE Ottawa woman dies after Hammond crash

A downstate womandied Saturday evening after a crash in northwest Indiana.

The two-car crash happened about 6 p.m. Saturday at 150th and Calumet Avenue in Hammond, according to Hammond police and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Dawn Rambo, 35,was taken to Franciscan Health in Hammond, where she was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m., the coroner’s office said.She lived in Ottawa, Illinois.

An autopsy did not immediately rule on cause or manner of her death, with results pending further studies.

The other vehicle’s driver was not injured in the crash, which was possibly related to a medical issue, police said.

The fatal attack occurred in Homan Square.
One of the wounded, a 32-year-old man, was driving down the street when he was struck by gunfire, police said.
The 34-year-old was crossing the street just before 8:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of West Columbus Avenue when she was struck by a black SUV.
