A man was shot to death and another man was wounded in a shooting early Thursday in south suburban Chicago Heights.

Officers were called about 2:11 a.m. for reports of two shooting victims near Andover and Revere streets, according to a statement from Chicago Heights police. They arrived to find 19-year-old Cedric Hurst and a 21-year-old man lying on the ground in the 1900 block of Revere.

Hurst had a gunshot wound to his head and a loaded semi-automatic handgun underneath his body, police said.

Hurst, who lived in Sauk Village, was taken to St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights and later airlifted to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 5:28 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The other man was taken to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields with a gunshot wound to his left leg, police said.

The shooting remained under investigation Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to call the Chicago Heights Detective Division at (708) 756-6422 or email arobles@chicagoheights.net.
