A man was critically injured in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday night on I-294 in the south suburbs.

The driver of a Dodge Charger was critically injured in a crash with a semi truck and a 2012 Chevrolet sedan on I-294 near 95th Street, Illinois State Police said about 7:30 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found the semi failed to slow and struck the rear of the Charger, which then struck the sedan, police said.

The driver of the Charger, a 21-year-old Alsip man, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, police said.

No citations have been issued as of Wednesday afternoon, police said.

All northbound lanes were temporarily closed at Cicero Avenue while the crash was investigated.
