A man was shot to death early Thursday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired at 2:09 a.m. and found 24-year-old Dantrell Morgan in a grassy area of the sidewalk in the 7100 block of South Carpenter, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He had been shot in the left side of his body.

Morgan was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 10:28 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.
