A man apparently shot a woman to death Tuesday morning in west suburban Cicero, then turned the gun on himself.

About 11:30 a.m., their bodies were found in a home in the 5100 block of West 25th Place, according to Cicero spokesman Ray Hanania.

Sara Rebeca Roche Hidalgo, 38, of Bronx, New York, died of a gunshot wound to the head and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Austreberto Vargas Jr., 27, who lived in Cicero, also suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

There was no evidence of an outside threat to the community, Hanania said. Police said it was an isolated incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
