Two people were wounded, one critically, in a shooting Saturday evening in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the South Side.

About 5:30 p.m., a 29-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and a female, whose age wasn’t immediately known, suffered a gunshot wound to her foot in the 2100 block of South Damen, according to preliminary information from Chicago Police. The circumstances of the shooting weren’t immediately known.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, while the female was taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition stabilized, police said.

No one was in custody as Area Central detectives investigated the shooting.
