A woman is in critical condition after being shot multiple times Sunday in west suburban Cicero.

The 33-year-old woman was shot 11 times by a male during a “domestic incident” about noon at a home near 58th Avenue and 22nd Place, according to Cicero police spokesman Ran Hanania.

The woman and the male were a couple, Hanania said.

After the shooting, the suspected gunman drove the woman to Stroger Hospital for treatment, where she was in critical condition, Hanania said. She has had three surgeries since Sunday afternoon and was undergoing a fourth Monday afternoon.

The male was in custody, but charges have not been filed, Hanania said.

The investigation was ongoing.
