A man was shot to death Friday afternoon in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.

Lonnie Hutcherson, 29, was walking about 12:10 p.m. in the 1500 block of East 62nd Street when someone shot him multiple times in the chest and arm, Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Hutcherson was initially taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial, where he later died less than an hour later, authorities said. He lived in the same block as the shooting.

Area Central detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
