There are no newcomers to the Super 25 this week despite a pair of notable upsets involving ranked teams. Instead it’s a reshuffling of the deck entering Week 9 of the 2018 season.

Glenbard West (6-2, 4-1) faltered offensively in a 10-7 loss to Oak Park (6-2, 4-0) that gave the Huskies their first win in Glen Ellyn in 20 years. The Hilltoppers had been rolling since their season-opening loss to Maine South (7-1, 4-0), but scored just one touchdown before Oak Park kicker Henry Darrow hit the 41-yard game-winning field goal with three seconds left.

The other ranked loss wasn’t as surprising with Prairie Ridge (6-2, 4-1) losing to Cary-Grove (8-0, 8-0) in the Sun-Times’ Game of the Week. The Trojans clinched the Fox Valley championship with the 21-14 victory, which came behind a dominant effort from quarterback Ben McDonald. The Wolves had no way of stopping the senior, who passed for 158 yards, ran for 113 yards and had a hand in two touchdowns.

It’s still the same 25 teams in this week’s rankings, however, thanks to the strong resumes of those teams throughout the year.
