A man was killed in a shooting Saturday evening in the Calumet Heights neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Michael Williams, 33, was inside his vehicle when another vehicle pulled up next to him and someone inside fired several shots at 5:47 p.m. in the 2000 block of East 95th Street, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Williams, who lived in the South Side Jeffery Manor neighborhood, was shot in his back and was taken in critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at 6:51 p.m.

An autopsy Sunday found Williams died of a gunshot wound to the back, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

Area South detectives were investigating.
