Authorities are asking for the public’s help in the search for a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash Sunday night in south suburban Sauk Village.

Officers responded just before 7 p.m. to the 2100 block of Lincoln Highway and found a 42-year-old woman unresponsive in the roadway, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

She remained unidentified Monday afternoon, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy found she died of multiple injuries caused by a vehicle striking a pedestrian and her death was ruled an accident.

Investigators determined she’d been hit by a vehicle, believed to be a white GMC Sierra pickup truck, which left the area after the crash, the sheriff’s office said. The truck has extensive front-end damage.

The sheriff’s office was asking anyone with information about the driver or about the crash to call detectives at (708) 865-4896.
