Man critically wounded in Austin shooting

A man was shot and critically wounded Thursday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

At 12:11 p.m., someone fired shots from a dark-colored SUV in the 5500 block of West North Avenue, striking the 22-year-old in his left side, according to Chicago police

He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in critical condition, police said.

Area North detectives were investigating.

The officer — a 29-year-old who has been with Cicero police for five years — was shot in the back and taken to Loyola University Medical Center, Cicero police said. He and his partner had been working in the special operation division in civilian clothes.
Ada S. McKinley Community Services will distribute the trees to organizations that will give them to 1,200 families in Chicago, according to a press release.
Officers found the man about 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of East 80th Street with gunshot wounds to his head, back and arm. He died at a hospital.
Illinois American Water is the state’s largest water utility, serving more than 1 million people from South Beloit to far downstate Cairo. The hike will be lower than the $24-per-month hike the company had originally sought. Aqua Illinois is also set to hike rates.
