A person suffered severe burns early Wednesday after a trailer caught fire in south suburban Beecher.

Just after midnight, fire crews responded to a call of a fire in the 2900 block of West Indiana, according to a statement from the Beecher Fire Protection District. When firefighters arrived, they found a recreational trailer engulfed in flames and located a “severely burned” person nearby.

After fire crews administered advanced life support at the scene, the person was airlifted to University of Chicago Medical Center in an unknown condition, the fire protection district said.

The blaze was struck out within 15 minutes, the fire protection district said. The trailer sustained “heavy fire damage” and was deemed uninhabitable.

No other injuries were reported, according to the fire protection district.
