A man was killed in a shooting Wednesday night in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side, police said.

About 7 p.m., 21-year-old Eric Lopez was inside a home with a few other people in the 2400 block of of South Albany Avenue when he heard gunfire and realized he was shot, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Lopez, who lived in the same block, showed up at Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at 10:48 p.m.

An autopsy Thursday did not immediately rule on the cause and manner of his death pending further investigation, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area Central detectives were investigating.
