A 47-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday evening in southwest suburban Joliet.

About 6:25 p.m., Mariano H. Velasco of Joliet was crossing Collins Street, just north of Cass Street, when he was hit by a silver 2007 GMC Envoy driven by a 23-year-old man from Bolingbrook, according to the Will County Coroner’s office and Joliet police.

AfterVelascofellto the ground, he was struck by anothera 2001 silver Honda Odyssey driven by a 29-year-old man from Joliet and dragged about 20 feet, police said.

Velasco was taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet and was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m., the coroner’s office said. An autopsy conducted Thursday found that Velasco died of multiple injuries from the crash.

At the time of the crash,he was dressed in black and not clearly visible to the drivers involved, police said. None of the drivers were intoxicated or appeared to be drinking.
