Man killed in Gary shooting

A 57-year-old man was shot to death late Thursday in Northwest Indiana.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired at 10:43 p.m. found James D. Franklin in the street with gunshot wounds in the 4200 block of Kentucky Street in Gary, according to Gary police and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Franklin, who lived just over a mile away in Gary, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
