A 16-year-old boy was shot just before noon Friday in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The boy was shot in the leg at 11:55 a.m. in the 1800 block of South Ridgeway, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said. Further details were not immediately available.
