A 25-year-old man was shot to death Saturday morning in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.

Earl Smith was arguing with another male when he was shot in the chest at 10:28 a.m. in the 7700 block of South Yates, according to Chicago Police.

Smith was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:34 p.m., police said. He lived in the Park Manor neighborhood.

A suspect was in custody in connection with the shooting and charges were pending Saturday afternoon, police said. Area South detectives were investigating.
