Bond was denied Friday for a man charged with a series of sexual assaults and robberies that spanned from the North Side to the South Loop.
Tyrone Robinson, 26, of the West Englewood neighborhood, is charged with felony counts of robbery, criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault with a weapon, according to Chicago Police.
Most recently, Robinson went up to a 26-year-old woman from behind about 1 a.m. Feb. 3 in the 900 block of West Cornelia in the Wrigleyville neighborhood and covered her mouth and nose with his hand, Cook County prosecutors said Friday.
He dragged her into an alley, where he pushed her against a dumpster, robbed her and grabbed her breast, prosecutors said. He then pulled her to the rear patio of a garden unit apartment, where he exposed his genitals. Robinson ran off when someone who lived in the building came home and the woman cried out for help.
Robinson was also responsible for a Dec. 20, 2017 attack in the South Loop, prosecutors said. In that incident, he’s accused of grabbing a 19-year-old woman from behindabout 12:45 a.m. in the 300 block of West Roosevelt Road and pulling her into a stairwell, where he robbed and sexually assaulted her.
In addition, Robinson was identified as the robber who snatched a 33-year-old woman’s purse about 9:20 p.m. Jan. 31 in the 1400 block of South Federal, authorities said.
Prosecutors said surveillance cameras captured Robinson in the areas where each attack occurred. A search of his home resulted in investigators finding an iPod that belonged to one of the victims and clothing that matched what he was seen wearing on surveillance footage, including a unique jacket.
Officers took Robinson into custody about 2 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
He was denied bail at his initial court appearance Friday and was scheduled toreturn to court Feb. 13.
