About 1:50 p.m., a Ford Explorer was traveling west on Bilter Road east of Wilton Lane when it crossed the center line and crashed head-on into an eastbound GMC Savana, according to Aurora police.

The 48-year-old driver of the Savana and the 21-year-old driver of the Explorer both had to be extricated from their vehicles by members of the Aurora Fire Department, police said.

Both men were taken to a suburban hospital in critical condition, police said. Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

No citations had been issued as of Wednesday morning and it was not immediately clear whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash, police said.
