A fire broke out Wednesday morning in an abandoned apartment building in south suburban Calumet City
Firefighters responded about 5:05 a.m. to a fire in the two-story building in the 300 block of Memorial Drive.
The fire was blazing through the roof and damage was visible on the right side of the building.
The building was under renovation and the fire started on the back porch and spread through the second floor, according to Calumet City Fire Chief Glenn Bachert.
There were no injuries reported in the fire, officials said. Calumet City Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
