A man was fatally shot Thursday evening in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Maurice Alexander, 21, was shot in the head about 5:20 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Washtenaw, Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said. He lived in the same neighborhood as the shooting.

He was initially taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

An autopsy was scheduled.
