Two people were found shot to death Tuesday afternoon at their home in northwest Indiana.

Investigators responded about 12:30 p.m. to the home in the 300 block of Van Buren Avenue in New Chicago to investigate the deaths of 39-year-old Heather Rayner and 52-year-old Manuel F. Alfaro, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

They were both pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m., the coroner’s office said. They died from multiple gunshot wounds, and their deaths were ruled homicides.

No further information was immediately made available.
